“The world is more magical, less predictable, more infinite, less knowable… than we could have imagined.” — James Hollis
For much of our lives, we are rewarded for knowing.
We build plans, forecasts, businesses, careers and reputations. We learn to reduce uncertainty, manage risk and turn the unknown into something measurable. Success often comes from our ability to anticipate what happens next.
Then, at some point, the question changes.:
Not: What can I still control?
But: What might become possible if I stop needing to control everything?
A new chapter of life rarely arrives with a detailed roadmap. It begins in the space between what we have already accomplished and what we still long to experience. That space can feel uncomfortable—but it can also be where wonder returns.
The future may be less predictable than we hoped. Yet it may also be more generous than we imagined.
There are passions we have not yet discovered. People we have not yet met. Places that may awaken something in us. Ideas waiting for the right conversation. Dreams we once postponed because they did not fit the plan.
Perhaps wisdom is not knowing exactly where we are going. Perhaps it is learning to move forward with curiosity, presence and trust.
This does not mean abandoning intention. It means replacing rigid certainty with an openness to serendipity. It means allowing life to surprise us again—and surrounding ourselves with people who encourage exploration rather than expectation.
At chapter beyond, we believe the next chapter is not something to predict perfectly. It is something to shape, experience and share.
You have spent years proving what you can build. Now comes the freedom to discover what else life may hold.
The world is still larger than our plans. More mysterious than our achievements.
And perhaps, if we remain open, far more magical.
